Wellington’s private Wakefield Hospital has been transformed with the rebuilding of its new Specialist Centre, a six-storey facility designed to the highest standards by HSPC Australia and CCM Architects.

As the country’s safest and most modern private hospital building, built to exceed the latest seismic codes and standards, the state-of-the-art facility caters for patients across the lower North Island. To further enhance the safety of patients, staff and visitors, the designers specified EverTread entry matting from Advance Flooring.

The EverTread Entry Matting System’s heavy-duty profile is ideal for hospitals and other high-traffic applications. Designed for long-lasting performance, EverTread is cleverly engineered for both ease of installation and straightforward removal when necessary.

With absorbent polyamide inserts set within a stylish aluminium frame, Evertread combines a deluxe appearance with exceptional dirt and moisture removal. The polyamide fibre is constructed with a mix of fine yarn piles for moisture absorption and thick, monofilament piles to scrape off solid particles. This construction provides superior dirt and moisture collection, while its open weave makes it easier to clean, helping to maintain the matting’s appearance and performance over time.

The New Zealand Building Code recommends that the transition from external to internal space should be level and occur easily and comfortably regardless of weather or the ability of the user. It also recommends entrance matting always be recessed, and large enough to dry wheelchair wheels properly.

EverTread’s aluminium frame is designed to fit into a 17mm recess, with specially designed slots to remove excess water, and it can be rolled up and removed for cleaning. The heavy-duty aluminium profiles are engineered to handle rolling loads of up to 500kg per m2, making it particularly appropriate for hospital environments.
