Carpet tiles with a broadloom effect

Glassons’ new head office fit-out in Newmarket aligns with the design of the fashion brand’s retail interiors. Timber panelling, terrazzo-style flooring, black ceilings and track lighting bring the brand experience into the workplace. New layers for acoustic softness are then added with Tecsom Galerie carpet tiles, thick drapery, fabric wall panels and Neoflex™ rubber flooring.

Designed by Outline Design, the neutral palette in the main work/design space allows the garments to be the hero. A wall of hanging racks and swatch storage is in easy reach for the designers, who work on a ‘runway’ of desks adjacent.

Carpet tiles down this spine add comfort underfoot while providing circulation space around the perimeter for easy movement of clothing racks. The Tecsom carpet tiles offer practicality, but with a broadloom effect to give a more luxurious feel to the space.

‘Tecsom is simple and plush, with the grey tone continuing the neutral palette in the space,’ says interior designer Nicky Wood. ‘This allowed Glassons’ product to be the colour focus of the space, rather than colour in the design competing or clashing with seasonal trends.’

The carpet is picked up again in the boardroom and internal meeting rooms to delineate space and add visual and acoustic softness. Tecsom Galerie carpet tiles offer superior noise reduction of 28 dB at 8 mm thick and with a high tuft density. With their seamless finishing, designers can choose tiles over a broadloom for easier delivery, carrying and laying, which simplifies carpet installation when there are multiple trades on site.

Neoflex rubber flooring is used in the small meeting pods. Conceived as phone booths, these small spaces are also softened with acoustic wall lining for private conversation. Saturated colours in these pods create contrast against the black-and-white theme of the open-plan workspace.
