Outside work hours, how do you enjoy spending your time?

I am a Lifelong Liverpool Football supporter and enjoy having good banter with other football supporters within the design industry! I am family driven, and have been happily married for a long time and spending time together including our 2 wonderful daughters is extremely important. I keep fit, enjoy cooking and have a passion for wine and craft beer. Making people laugh brings also brings me joy.

What does your role entail?

Working closely with architects, designers and clients on projects of all sizes to establish suitable flooring solutions for different environments, and introducing them to new exciting products. We are a small but very experienced team that work together on providing the most suitable solutions based on our combined expertise.

What is one of the most interesting projects you have worked on?

I have worked on many different projects around New Zealand, but one of my recent favourites would be the Scion Information Hub in Rotorua. The architects were RTA Studio in Auckland where Adam & Tom were looking for a suitable flooring solution that would meet the acoustic and environmental requirements. Being an LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) building designed to blend in to the natural Redwood Forest surroundings of Whakarewarewa Forest Park, the choice of carpet tiles were extremely important. The finished building is outstanding and I was very proud to have been involved with supplying into the project that has won many awards.

What is your favourite Advance Flooring product? And why?

There are many great products that we distribute, but my personal favourite would be the Neoflex rubber flooring. I love the amazing colour options plus the variety of thicknesses and formats available. The recycled components used in the manufacture are really important and are one of the main reasons designers and architects are now looking at Neoflex rubber as a more sustainable and environmentally friendly solution. The colours and finishes provide the ability to have fun with the design too.

What do you like about working at Advance Flooring?

I really love working for a family owned business where every person has input in the companies direction, growth and success. Having the three current generations of family working alongside the whole team brings stability, depth and confidence, plus motivation for us to all do well. Our structure is based on trust and supporting each other which is extremely important within the society today.

Tell us about your experience and background in the industry...

I have been working alongside and supporting architects and designers for nearly 15 years and have made many wonderful friends along my journey. Supporting many different sectors during this time has provided me with a wealth of knowledge within the industries and I enjoy sharing this with clients. Specification and design requirements continue to evolve swiftly and I have been lucky to have access to technology that allows our company to provide the best support swiftly and efficiently.
