A gym can be anything, from part of a room in a home to a multi-floor commercial operation catering to hundreds. Some rooms may be dedicated to a single type of exercise; other spaces may be multi-purpose. Whether rubber tiles will be the best type of gym flooring for any given room depends largely on the activities taking place on it.

Rubber is the preferred material for weight and cross training gym floors due to it's:

  • Resiliance
  • Durability
  • Shock- and sound-absorbence
  • Low maintenance.

It can be dyed in an endless variety of colours, and because the colour is impregnated all the way through, rubber flooring will carry on looking great even after many years of service.

For weight rooms, there is no higher performer than specialised rubber gym tiles. Constructed from one or more layers, these tiles come in a wide range of sizes, shapes and thicknesses.

Advance Flooring’s high impact gym tiles include the:

  • Premium Gym Tiles (our go-to, standard gym tiles, dual layered at 15mm)
  • High Impact Tiles (dual layered and pressed, but thicker and with more design choices suited to specialist or custom projects
  • REPtile (dual layered and watercut for a seamless finish) which is featured in the images above.

Their thick, high-density rubber absorbs noise and vibration from the impact of dropped weights and the motion of exercise machinery. Exercise usually generates sweat, and rubber’s high coefficient of friction means it has natural anti-slip properties, which is important for safety wherever moisture is present.

In home gyms, which may be used for a variety of exercise types, rubber gym tiles provide the perfect solution. In smaller commercial gyms multi-use rooms, using gym tiles throughout is a cost-effective way to create a safe, resilient floor that will withstand constant heavy treatment.

Larger commercial gyms have spaces dedicated to particular exercises – large aerobics and dance studios, cycle and treadmill rooms. Here, other types of flooring may provide a better solution. Where tiles necessarily have joins, REPtiles and roll rubber flooring can offer a seamless look over large areas, while still providing many of the same benefits as gym tiles. Here, colour can be used to enhance visual appeal, to delineate specific areas of a room, or to reinforce branding. And rubber floors can be continued through to changing rooms.

In many cases, rubber tiles are the best one-stop solution for gym floors. Advance offers a range of high impact, customisable gym tiles that will withstand the rigours of weight and multi-use rooms large or small.

Our Neoflex series of rubber flooring will enhance more specialised exercise spaces with years of good looks, safety and performance.
