At Laneways Apartments in Christchurch, CoralTread entry matting removes dirt and moisture to help keep vinyl floors clean and non-slip.

Giving a refreshing perspective on the rebirth of inner-city residential living, the Laneway Apartments complex in central Christchurch has all its entrances protected with CoralTread entry matting from Advance Flooring.

‘Laneway is a high-quality development in the centre of town,’ says Ashton Wright, Project Architect at Hierarchy Group. ‘Our goal was to provide a good community experience for residents, along with a mix of communal and commercial spaces that everyone could access.’

Wall-to-wall entrance matting for maximum protection

With 44 apartments above a ground floor filled with boutique retail and hospitality offerings, all connected by a series of laneways, the complex welcomes residents, guests and public alike.

For the entryways, Hierarchy Group used CoralTread entrance matting to create stylish and functional transitions from the exterior through to the residential interiors. Laid full width within wind lobbies, CoralTread ensures maximum dirt and moisture removal, along with anti-slip protection.

‘Wind lobbies are not standard for us,’ says Ashton, ‘but for this setting they were a good way to break up the spaces, and to make the entrances neat and tidy. Plus they’re a high-traffic area, so we also needed something that would perform over time, which the CoralTread does.’

Expert advice and product selection

CoralTread is an elegant, low-profile entrance matting, with highly absorbent polyamide inserts set within a slimline aluminium frame. It is highly slip-resistant, reducing the risk of injury, and is designed for optimum removal of both moisture and solid particles.

Having worked with Advance on many projects, Hierarchy Group knew they could get the right products to meet the requirements of their design. ‘Advance has a great database of products, as well as all the technical information,’ says Ashton. ‘When we need something a little unusual, the team delivers different ideas and results for the designers.’
