Martin Reid

Martin has a multi-disciplinary background in industrial design and architecture. Establishing his practice in 1999, he has developed products, built environments and exhibition installations for many influential brand leaders in Australia’s design industry.

During the COVID lockdowns of 2020/21, Martin was fortunate to be living in a Victorian coastal area. His daily walks immersed in this natural environment provided the inspiration for this newest rug range.

Greg MacLaughlin

In memory of artist Greg MacLaughlin who sadly passed away in 2015, we are proud to have collaborated with Greg to produce a collection of tretford Custom Rugs.

After much experimentation, all shapes and patterns were the results of Greg’s unique programming method that he used for all of his works. The parameters of the shapes and the internal composition had become an algorithm, both mathematical and linguistic.

Then came the long process of cycling through hundreds of potential compositions until he hit upon those that created a high level of dynamic activation. Greg says the key was to create shapes and color relationships that would shift very subtly as people move about and over the rugs

Sarah K

Sarah K is an internationally renowned designer and design curator with more than 20 years’ experience putting together exhibitions and projects by Australian designers to showcase new directions in design either at design events in Milan, London, Sydney, Melbourne and Tokyo.

In 2011 she created supercyclers to focus on envelope-pushing ideas around sustainability. She runs her own design practice, Blakebrough+King (b+k) designing and producing furniture, objects interiors and events from the Southern Highlands of NSW.

Playing off the idea that our living and working environments are in a constant state of movement, we can have more fun with flooring - just as we do with other objects of design.

Celia Harmon

The Gibbon Collection was inspired by the shadow play that occurs when light is obscured by structures and falls at angles on the floor to create simple but interesting shapes. The angles used in all designs were carefully curated to create pleasing asymmetrical shapes, which compliment a broad spectrum of interior styles.

All designs have been coloured in tones that suit both residential and commercial interiors, however all can be altered and customised to suit each individual client style.

Fun fact: Gibbon is also the name of an ape species – one of which is ranked among the most threatened primates (the Silvery Gibbon). In keeping with the theme of mammals (apes and monkey’s alike), all designs in the collection are names after various monkey species: Marmoset, Pigmy, Tamarin, Mandrill & Vervet.
