A new welcoming, child-focused environment
Constructed with the aid of a $50 million donation from philanthropist Mark Dunajtschik, the new Wellington Children’s Hospital is a landmark project for the region. The three-storey building of nearly 8,000 sqm will cater to approximately 30,000 children and their whanau passing through its doors each year.
A collaboration between Studio Design + Architecture, design and build company McKee Fehl and engineers Aurecon, the new hospital provides 50 beds over two floors, one for medical and one for surgical patients. The ground floor houses day patients and other paediatric services and incorporates a café a large outdoor patients’ garden and play area.
