Total carpet and tile package from Advance Flooring puts OneSchool Global’s Gore campus on a clean, safe, comfortable and quiet footing.  

Through its focus on ‘Learning to Learn’, OneSchool Global NZ provides a unique environment for students, with a self-directed approach to teaching and learning. Embedding this philosophy into the design of its new Gore campus involved a total flooring solution from Advance Flooring, including Kingston carpet tiles, Gecko entrance tiles and a Taraflex sports floor. 

‘Advance had recently supplied the flooring for OneSchool Global Wellington,’ says project manager Mark Simmons from Medispace. ‘Originally we spoke to them for advice on the sports floor, and once we established Advance could tick all the boxes – carpet tiles, entrance matting and vinyl – we got them to put together an entire package.’ 

OneSchool Global had a colour palette already in place to choose from, and specifying Kingston carpet tiles for the student-led learning spaces helped create a warm, friendly and quiet environment. ‘Advance worked with three colours to come up with a great overall effect,’ says Simmons. ‘The carpet tiles have an acoustic backing, and it’s noticeable in those spaces just how quiet they are.’ 

In the entranceways, Gecko entrance tiles protect the interior with coarse, bristle-like fibres that adhere to and remove dirt and water from footwear approaching in all directions. Heavy-duty and highly slip-resistant, Gecko entrance tiles help to ensure the comfort and safety of students, staff and visitors. 

For the sports floor, Advance suggested Taraflex Evolution as a safer and more cost-effective alternative to a sprung wood floor. ‘That was a great recommendation,’ says Simmons. ‘Taraflex is a specialist sports floor with a multilayer construction and a vinyl top layer to give it the cushioning effect, and provides up to 35% shock absorption to help reduce injury.’ 

Working at a time when supply chains were under stress meant planning ahead, says Simmons. ‘It was really helpful at the start to establish suitable selections, quantities and prices to get a handle on cost. Advance had great flexibility in holding products at the order price and ensuring they were available for despatch when we needed them.’
